  1. Limit the use of domain names.
    1. Better spending of marketing dollars.
    2. It is easer for people to remember and have confidence in one domain than multiple domains with different information.
  2. Keep it simple and easy for someone to remember.
  3. Make sure it’s spelled the same as it sounds.
  4. Avoid the use of domain names other than .gov. The .gov domain is reserved for government use only.
    1. Avoids confusion if it is a government site
    2. Restricts public from registering domains that are similar to yours and posting inappropriate content.
  5. Generic third level domains are implied to be broader than a single state agency and should be used only for enterprise initiatives (i.e. egov.nd.gov, licensing.nd.gov).
