Purpose
Standardize on one desktop management suite to be used for all desktops within the Enterprise. This will result in a more standard desktop build and help reduce overall support costs of desktop computers.
Standard
Altiris Client Management suite will be used for all new desktop management solutions within the Enterprise.
Policy
The Enterprise will use a consistent desktop management suite.
Applicability
This standard applies to all executive branch state agencies excluding the University Systems Office and other higher education institutions, i.e. campuses and agricultural and research centers.
Definition
- Desktop management suite
- Software installed on a desktop computer to allow it to be fully managed from remote locations. For example, to be able to connect, load software, load patches, do troubleshooting, and get asset information from a remote site.

Non-compliance with this standard shall be reported to the Office of the State Auditor.
