Enterprise Architecture

Enterprise Architecture (EA) supports a coordinated approach to strategic IT decision making by providing an integrated view of IT priorities and investments that will help the state optimize service delivery. 

Why Enterprise Architecture?

For state government to be as responsive and cost effective as possible, it is essential to have a clear view of enterprise goals and how to achieve them. EA offers a model that connects business objectives to IT strategy, and creates a formal communication structure to support the attainment of a common vision.

Through EA, state agencies guide the future direction of information technology. The success of this highly collaborative process depends on the commitment of the participants to its goals and guiding IT principles.

EA is an on-going, iterative process that ensures better coordination, within and between agencies, to:

  • Deliver robust and cohesive services
  • Maintain security and privacy
  • Maximize efficiencies through sharing lessons learned, procurement vehicles, and investments
  • Increase interoperability and alignment of data and technology
  • Provide a strategic approach to IT lifecycle management
  • Establish a common vision of the future shared by stakeholders in business and information technology
  • Form guidance in the selection, creation and implementation of solutions driven by business requirements
  • Control growing complexities of technology by setting enterprise-wide standards for information technology
