Access/Authorization

Access and Authorization services provide a security framework for controlling who can use IT resources and what degree of activities, resources, or services they are permitted.

Directories

ITD manages two primary directory services:

Microsoft Active Directory
A Windows Operating System directory service that facilitates working with interconnected, complex, and different network resources in a unified manner.  Active Directory provides a common interface for organizing/maintaining data and controlling access to users based on security policies.
LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol)
An open standard used to manage application authentication and authorization for external users.

Requesting Service

ITD's online Work Management System (WMS) may be used to request access or authorization.  Select the appropriate service request type:

ITD operates a centralized Active Directory infrastructure, and certain political subdivisions employees need to be part of the directory.

A Virtual Private Network uses encryption and tunneling to connect users or sites on a public network to the statewide network.
