Q. Our school will be implementing a Distance Learning plan with students. Can we still pay our federally funded employees, e.g., Title I, II, III, IV during this time?
A. Yes. Provided the LEA treats its non-federally funded employees the same as its federally funded employees (2 CPR 200.431(a)), then federally funded staff can continue to be paid as normal despite school closures. This includes certified and non-certified staff, at both public and nonpublic schools.
Q. How can federal Title funding (Title I, II, IV) be used to support the LEA Distance Learning plan?
A. There are many ways federal funding can support distance learning. The “Using Federal Title Funds to Support a District’s Distance Learning Plan” explores these options.
Q. How can federal School Improvement 1003(a) funding (Comprehensive Support and Improvement (CSI) and Targeted Support and Improvement (TSI)) be used to support the LEA Distance Learning plan?
A. For schools identified for CSI/TSI, all allowable uses of federal grant funds still stand at this time.
