Educational Leadership Excellence Scholarships

The NDDPI will be awarding leadership scholarships designed specifically to meet the personalized needs of school administrators across the state. 

Education leaders will be able to select from a menu of opportunities provided throughout 2019-2020 to attend a program or training opportunity that directly supports the identified needs of a school or district leader.

*Disclaimer: To be considered for the scholarship, all applications and documentation of successful completion must be submitted to the NDDPI by June 1, 2020. Funds are contingent upon availability. Once all funds are depleted, there is no guarantee that all applicants will be reimbursed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who can apply for the scholarship? 

  • Any practicing Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, Principal, Assistant principal, Special Education Director or Assistant Special Director can apply for the scholarship.
     

How much is the scholarship worth? 

  • Each scholarship application is worth $500.
     

Who gets reimbursed? 

  • Depending on who submitted the application. If an individual submitted, then they would get reimbursed. If the application was submitted through a district, the district would be reimbursed.
     

Do conferences and standalone workshops count?

  • Professional development means activities that are an integral part of school and local education agency strategies for providing education leaders with the knowledge and skills necessary to meet the challenging Professional Standards for Educational Leaders (PSEL) to help students graduate with a well-rounded, robust education.  The training must be sustained, intensive, collaborative, job-embedded, data-driven, and academically focused. In the context of these scholarship funds, professional development does not include standalone workshops or conferences. 
     

Can Assistant Superintendents, Assistant Principals, and Assistant Special Education Directors apply for the scholarship? 

  • Yes. Assistant Superintendents, Assistant Principals, and Assistant Special Education Directors are also eligible for the scholarship.

Leadership Professional Development Provider List

The North Dakota Department of Public Instruction (NDDPI) is pleased to announce funding support for existing and upcoming leadership professional development opportunities designed specifically to meet the individual needs of school leaders across the state.  Scholarships for these opportunities are being provided through the availability of $200,000 in state funds provided to NDDPI through the 66th Legislative Assembly and $120,000 in NDDPI’s federal Title IIA state set-aside funds. 

Professional development means activities that are an integral part of school and local education agency strategies for providing education leaders with the knowledge and skills necessary to meet the challenging Professional Standards for Educational Leaders (PSEL) to help students graduate with a well-rounded, robust education. 

IMPORTANT TRAINING INFORMATION: The training must be sustained, intensive, collaborative, job-embedded, data-driven, and academically focused.

In the context of these scholarship funds, professional development does not include stand-alone workshops or conferences.

WHO CAN APPLY: NDDPI intends to provide a $500 reimbursement scholarship to any superintendent, assistant superintendent, principal, assistant principal, special education director, or assistant special education director. This scholarship will be paid upon successful completion of an approved course.
