The deadline to nominate a teacher for the Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST) is less than a month away, but it is not too late to nominate a deserving educator or to start your own application for this prestigious program. 

PAEMST are the highest honors for a mathematics or science (including computer science) teacher in the United States and over 4,700 outstanding educators have been recognized since the program’s inception in 1983. Isn’t it time for you to join their ranks? 

While the application can seem a bit overwhelming at first, the PAEMST Team offers several resources to help you navigate the process:
  1. Join the PAEMST Team for an Online Webinar – The PAEMST team will be hosting Applicant Webinars featuring previous awardees to explain the process and answer applicant questions. To register for a webinar, visit Webinars will be hosted throughout the application cycle (closing on May 1st), and the full schedule can be found on the website noted above.
  2. Ask your State Coordinator about connecting with a PAEMST Mentor – Want to speak with someone who’s been through the process before? Obtaining a PAEMST mentor allows you to do just that! Contact your State Coordinator to get connected with a mentor.
  3. Contact the Help Center - Still can’t find an answer to one of your questions? You can always contact the PAEMST Team at or 855-723-6780 (PAEMST-0). We are here to help!
Becoming a PAEMST awardee can be a truly life-changing experience. Awardees will receive a trip to Washington, D.C., a certificate signed by the President, a $10,000 award from the National Science Foundation (NSF). With great teachers throughout our state, we know our students have bright futures. We encourage you to submit an application for the 2017-2018 application cycle!
