Applications Available For ND Math, English Standards Committees
BISMARCK, N.D., May 6, 2016 – School Superintendent Kirsten Baesler said Friday that applications for North Dakota’s math and English standards writing and review committees are available on the Department of Public Instruction’s website.
Baesler announced her plan to form the committees this week. They will be in charge of reviewing our current math and English standards and developing the next version of our standards that will be used in North Dakota’s schools, beginning with the 2017-18 school year.
The writing committees will be made up of math and English educators in North Dakota’s K-12 schools and university system. Baesler said each of the two writing committees will have as many as 35 members.
There will be three separate review committees, made up of elected leaders, business and industry leaders, and North Dakota parents and citizens. The committees will have as many as seven members each. They will review the drafts and suggest changes. The writing committee’s drafts will also be presented to the public for comments.
