The primary purpose and function of the Office of Educational Equity & Support is to administer all elements of the federal Elementary and Secondary Education (ESEA) law. Federal programming under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) provides financial and technical assistance to state and local educational agencies to meet the needs of educationally deprived, at-risk children, school level professional development to improve teacher and principal quality, and hold districts and schools accountable for improvements in student academic achievement.

The six offices within the Division of Student Support & Innovation provide coordinated resources, strategies, and initiatives to schools to help them support at-risk students and foster collaboration among the different programs that assist these populations of students while working within state and federal regulations.
