Foster Care Services
Request information on becoming a licensed family foster care home.
Purpose
Foster care is 24-hour out-of-home care for children whose parents are unable to provide for their children's needs. It includes food, clothing, shelter, security, safety, guidance and comfort.
In nearly all cases, a child in care has been removed from their home by a court order, with custody given to a public agency, such as the Division of Juvenile Services, a human service zone (county), or Tribal Social Services.
The North Dakota Department of Human Services licenses foster care homes and facilities to maintain a standard of safety and well-being of children in care.
