Occasionally, an applicant may be forced to temporarily live away from their permanent home due to illness or other circumstances beyond their control.

 

If the applicant intends to return to their home within a reasonable time period (up to three months), LIHEAP funds may be used to pay for the cost of maintaining energy in the home during his absence.

 

Examples:

1. An elderly person in nursing home for a short stay.
2. Persons of any age that need to go away from home a short time because they cannot care for themselves.
3. Someone away for a reasonable time for medical treatment.
