Tompkins Rehabilitation Center (TRC)

Tompkins Rehabilitation Center (TRC) is a clinically managed, high-intensity residential care program on the campus of the North Dakota State Hospital. TRC offers continuous observation, monitoring and treatment by professional staff designed to treat clients who are not sufficiently stable to benefit from outpatient substance use disorder treatment.

Programming includes:

  • On-site, 24 hours per day clinical staffing
  • Specialized professional consultation
  • Programming offered seven days per week
  • Variable length of stay based on client need
  • 24 hour a day available medical and nursing care

Daily clinical services include:

  • Cognitive behavioral therapies
  • Motivational and enhancement strategies
  • Individual and group therapies as deemed appropriate by client assessed need
  • Family treatment services
  • Educational, vocational and rehabilitation services
  • Referral for continued care and support when transitioning to community living

Admission criteria:

  • A substance use disorder diagnosis
  • ASAM III.5 referral:
    • No need of detoxification
    • No physical condition or complication impacting immediate safety and well-being or requiring 24-hour medical or nursing intervention

Zero Tolerance Policy

The North Dakota State Hospital has a zero-tolerance policy for all forms of client sexual abuse and harassment. The hospital will investigate all allegations and actively seek prosecution when a perpetrator is identified.


Reporting Client Sexual Abuse or Harassment

Friends and family members of clients in the TRC treatment program, and other individuals may report client sexual abuse and harassment by calling, writing, or emailing:
