BASIC WILDLAND FIREFIGHTING TRAINING (S130/S190)

Registration for this class is now CLOSED.

This 7-day training will provide an introduction to wildland fire behavior, basic wildland firefighter training and skills (Field Day Exercise at Standing Rock). The training is open to firefighters in North Dakota from tribal areas, rural fire departments, and the North Dakota National Guard. Successful completion of this course will meet the basic training requirements for an entry level wildland firefighter.

**Upon successful completion, participants are responsible for coordinating with their sponsoring/host agency for issuance of a Red Card.

This training is being sponsored by the ND Department of Emergency Services, ND Forest Service, ND Indian Affairs Commission, Bureau of Indian Affairs, ND Firefighters Association, ND Fire Marshal’s Office and United Tribes Technical College.

Participants must:
  • Be at least 18 years of age and affiliated with an emergency response agency in North Dakota
  • Bring their own personal protective equipment
  • Meet Department of Interior (DOI) Medical Standards
  • Completed IS-100, IS-200, and IS-700


  • **Sponsoring agency is responsible for verifying DOI medical standards are met and IS-100, IS-200 and IS-700 courses are completed prior to arrival for training.

    Registration Deadline - May 18, 2018

    There is no cost to register. Lodging will be in the UTTC dorms (closed campus) and meals will be provided.
    Participants, or their emergency response agency, are responsible for all other costs (transportation, personnel costs).
