Hazardous Weather-Tornados

This course is intended to help promote a more proactive response to weather conditions and tornado events through close coordination between emergency management and National Weather Service. This course covers how the basic elements of weather can combine to create potential hazards; weather forecast products and how to interpret them; new warning system terminology, and anticipating hazardous weather for planning, warning, and response purposes.

JP Martin with the National Weather Service in Bismarck will be the presenter for this course.

We recommend participation in the Mass Care Planning Course to be held April 16-17, 2014 in conjunction with this course.

The course will be held at the Comfort Inn, 1030 E Interstate Ave, Bismarck. Registration will be from 7:30 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. and instruction begins at 8:00 a.m. A block of rooms has been reserved for class participants. Call the Comfort Inn at 701-223-1911 and reference the Hazardous Weather-Tornados (DES) block of rooms. Reservations must be made by March 30, 2014.

NDDES will reimburse participants for meals and lodging according to state rates and policy. Participants must travel a distance greater than 50 miles to be eligible for reimbursement.
