Things My Mother Taught Me: by Katherine DiSavino
It is often said that the best stories have three main themes, family, family, and family! Olivia and Gabe have just packed up all of their belongings and drove halfway across the country. They are young, in love, and ready to start a new life together in Chicago. But everything that can go wrong does go wrong: from a chair getting stuck in the doorway of their shabby apartment to their moving van being stolen! So when their parents surprise them, Olivia and Gabe greet them with a mixture of wariness and relief. This modern comedy hearkens back to the work of Neil Simon as it takes a generational look at relationships, and how parents sometimes pass their best lessons on to their children without even meaning to. Funny and touching, this comedy will make audiences laugh out loud and remember that mother (or sometimes father) really does know best.
