Minot State University's Northwest Arts Center Presents Art from "Her Voice Resounds"
The Northwest Arts Center presents Art from ‘Her Voice Resounds,’ an interdisciplinary celebration of the Centenary of Women’s Suffrage, with submissions from 20 North Dakota women artists. On Saturday, Nov. 9, the Minot State University Concert Choir will commemorate the Centenary of Women’s Suffrage during their fall concert beginning at 7:30 p.m. in Ann Nicole Nelson Hall.
As part of the performance, the choir extended a special invitation to North Dakota women artists to submit work that visually represented one of the eight movements of Luciano Berio’s “Magnificat.” Based on the biblical “Song of Mary,” Berio’s composition was completed 70 years ago and is one of several selections that will be performed on Saturday celebrating the empowerment of women as embodied in the passage of the 19th amendment.
The concert and exhibition are free and open to the public.
The Walter Piehl Gallery is located in the Northwest Arts Center on the lower level of the Gordon B. Olson Library, with its own entrance on the south side of the library. It is open MTWF, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday 1-5 p.m. and by special arrangement. It is closed holidays.
