John Cage Musicircus
Part concert and part happening, a “musicircus” invites any number of performers to perform any number of pieces (musical or otherwise) simultaneously in the same place. The immersive “musicircus” pays homage to American composer and avant-garde icon John Cage, whose philosophies and compositions caused audiences around the world to reconsider, “What, exactly, is music?”
“Cage Against the Machine” will feature simultaneous performances throughout the Museum by the MSUM Percussion and Chamber Ensembles under the direction of Dr. Kenyon Williams and Dr. Monte Grisé. Join us for this 1960s-style “happening” to observe art, music, and the chance interactions between them.
