Artist Lectures at NDMOA - Margaret Wall-Romana
Margaret Wall-Romana is passionate about painting and deeply knowledgeable about the materials and techniques of Western painting's history. She finds comfort in painting's obstinate refusal to go away: "The medium of painting waxes and wanes, cycling through declarations of its obsolescence and newly found relevance again and again. No matter; painters just keep painting. There's something so seductive about the material of paint and what can be done with it that there will always be those of us who fall under its spell and decide to spend our lives pursuing its possibilities. We fail to lose our sense of wonder at what can be made by applying colored substances to a flat surface: worlds that invite entry, which may be virtually inhabited and lingered in; objects we may surrender to or puzzle over."
