The Construction Crew Lead will oversee the DWR's Construction Crew which includes two full-time employees. The Construction Crew Lead is a member of the Design and Construction Section of the Water Development Division.The Construction Crew completes repairs and modifications to DWR, state agency, and political subdivision owned projects. Examples of projects completed by the Crew include: repair of principal spillway at Blacktail Dam, replacement of low-level valve actuator at Mt. Carmel Dam and Fish Creek dams, repair of trash rack at Square Butte dam, repairs to USGS gage sites, and repairs to project features on the state-owned Devils Lake Outlets. The Crew also helps with emergency flood response and occasionally the inspection of dams. Frequent overnight travel is expected during construction season, typically 3 nights per week (four 10+ hour days Monday through Thursday and sometimes Friday).

Minimum Qualifications

Requires six years of construction experience, and an associates' degree in a related field. In lieu of associates' degree, experience may be substituted on a year for year basis up to two years. Overall experience must include: Operating heavy equipment. *Vocational training for heavy construction equipment operation or a related field reflecting the required abilities for the position may be substituted for the required work experience on a year-for year basis up to two years. Experience on civil construction projects, including at least five years work experience on infrastructure related construction projects. Experience in mechanical work, welding, carpentry, and construction work.Ability to lead and direct a team on a variety of construction projects. A valid Class A commercial driver's license with air brake endorsement or ability to obtain it within 6 months of employment.Strong interpersonal and verbal skills.Ability and willingness to travel throughout North Dakota.

Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with survey methods and procedures. Experience with construction of water resource projects.

Essential FunctionsPrimarily Reports to: Migratory Bird Management SupervisorSecondarily provides support to: Migratory Bird BiologistGeneral Job Duties:Assist with, and coordinate migratory game bird capture, handling, and banding of migratory game birds, including operational Canada goose, dove, and duck banding. Coordinate Special Canada Goose Permit program; processing applications; issuing permits and correspondence, compiling report data and producing reports. Assist in collecting and compiling migratory game bird population and harvest survey data, data entry, preparing data tables and figures. Assist in proofing data, drafting and proofreading P-R project annual reports, and other population and harvest survey reports, documents, and presentations. Prepare, organize and file data, literature, paper and GIS-based maps, reports, and other records.Assist with production of mass mailings to state and federal field personnel and the public regarding surveys, projects, questionnaires, etc. Maintain vehicles, prepare, repair, purchase, load, haul, unload, clean and store equipment.Handle phone calls, visitors, messages, and public information requests.Disease work including: disease monitoring and collection and shipment of specimens to appropriate diagnostic facilities, CWD deer head collections, and processing of specimens. Maintain computer files and records. Assist with computer projects such as: data entry, data management, archiving, etc. Other duties as assigned: at various times, the Waterfowl Management Technician assists with a variety of other tasks within the Department.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires a minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in wildlife biology or management or closely related natural resource science degree. Must have or be able to obtain a Class D North Dakota drivers license. Must be able to lift at least 70 pounds and be willing to travel occasionally throughout the year. Applicant must be capable of working long and/or irregular hours outdoors under varying weather conditions. Applicants must be able to swim.

Primary duties associated with this position are as follows:Develop and maintain expertise in lighting and signal design.Lighting and Signal design.Write engineering/environmental reports and create project plans.Assist in designing guardrail, signing, pavement marking, and work zone traffic control.Assist in reviewing consultant prepared lighting, signal, and ITS design.

Minimum Qualifications

Transportation Engineer II:Bachelor's degree in civil, transportation, or construction engineeringTwo years of professional-level engineering work experienceEligibility to write the Fundamentals of Engineering exam as specified by the Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors.Requires a class D driver's license for travel to meetings and project locations.Transportation Engineer I:Bachelor's degree in civil, transportation, or construction engineeringEligibility to write the Fundamentals of Engineering exam as specified by the Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors.Requires a class D driver's license for travel to meetings and project locations.Employment of the selected candidate will be contingent on satisfactorily completing the interview process and reference check.
