North Dakota Department of Veterans Affairs announces the successful completion of National Association of County Veterans Service Officer (NACVSO) training for three ND County Veterans Service Officers and two State Veterans Service Officers.
Emily Cost (Traill County), Kathy Benson (Towner County), Brian Reybok (Grand Forks County), Mike Conklin (ND Dept. of Veterans Affairs), and Dan Thorstad (ND Dept. of Veterans Affairs) attended NACVSO training in Pierre, SD last week (25-29 August), successfully meeting all requirements for national accreditation. The training prepares the Veterans Service Officer to develop and process veteran benefits claims. They were instructed on the legal aspects of claims development, the VA claims process, and appeals. They also received in-depth instruction on myriad of benefits to include; pension, disability compensation, burial, dental, healthcare, and home loans. Training also included benefits available for dependents and surviving spouses.
