Registered Cass county. Born, Beardstown, Ill., April 29, 1898, of (nationality of parents not given). Occupation - mechanic. Inducted at Iowa City, Iowa, on April 29, 1918. Sent to Camp Dodge, Iowa. Served in 163rd Depot Brigade, to (date not given); Company B, 349th Infantry, to May 16, 1918; Company No. 51, 3rd Battalion, 165th Depot Brigade, to May 31, 1918; Company A, 360th Infantry, to death. Grade: Corporal, Nov. 2, 1918. Overseas from July 6, 1918, to death. Wounded, gassed, Sept. 14, 1918. Engagements: Offensives: St. Mihiel; Meuse-Argonne. Defensive Sectors: Puvenelle and Villers-en-Haye (Lorraine).
