Biography:

Registered Cavalier county. Born, Mankato, Minn., Jan. 9, 1889, of German-Austrian parents. Occupation - farmer. Inducted at Langdon on Sept. 21, 1917. Sent to Camp Dodge, Iowa. Served in Company K, 352nd Infantry, to Nov. 28, 1917; Company L, 348th Infantry, to June 11, 1918; Camp Pike June Replacement Draft, to Aug. 4, 1918; Company G, 23rd Infantry, to death. Overseas from June 22, 1918, to death. Engagements: Offensives: St. Mihiel; Meuse-Argonne. Defensive Sectors: Marbache and Limey (Lorraine).
