Registered Cass county. Born, Fargo, N. Dak., Oct. 20, 1892, of American parents. Occupation - clerk. Inducted at Fargo on Sept. 22, 1917. Sent to Camp Dodge, Iowa. Served in Supply Company, 352nd Infantry, to Nov. 29, 1917; Machine Gun Company, 347th Infantry, to July 8, 1918; Company D, 147th Machine Gun Battalion, to July 16, 1918; Machine Gun Company, 168th Infantry, to death. Overseas from June 20, 1918, to death. Engagement: Offensive: Aisne-Marne.
