Registered Pembina county. Born, Cavalier, N. Dak., May 23, 1894, of American-Canadian parents. Occupation - railroad signal helper. Enlisted in the Navy at Minneapolis, Minn., on Jan. 10, 1918. Served at Naval Training Station, Great Lakes, Ill., to June 2, 1918; Receiving Ship, New York, N. Y., to June 8, 1918; USS New Mexico, to Nov. 11, 1918. Grades: Apprentice Seaman, 172 days; Seaman 2nd Class, 133 days.
