Not a registrant, enlisted prior. Born, Donnelly, Minn., April 6, 1882. Enlisted in the Marine Corps at Seattle, Wash., on Sept. 6, 1913. Served in 33rd Company, San Domingo, from April 6, 1917, to July 23, 1917; 28th Company, from July 23, 1917, to Aug. 15, 1917; 60th Company, New York, N. Y., from Aug. 15, 1917, to Sept. 19, 1917, when discharged. Re-enlisted at Great Falls, Mont., Oct. 15, 1917. Sent to San Diego, Calif. Served at Quantico, Va., from Dec. 1, 1917, to Dec. 3, 1917; 36th Company, from Dec. 3, 1917, to Dec. 25, 1917; Cuba, from Dec. 25, 1917, to May 2, 1918; Quantico, Va., from May 2, 1918, to July 7, 1918, when discharged to accept commission. Grade: Sergeant, Oct. 15, 1917. Commissioned a Marine Gunner (Temporary), July 8, 1918. Assigned to Quantico, Va. Promoted: 2nd Lieutunant (Marine Corps Reserve), Sept. 28, 1918.
