Biography:

Not a registrant, enlisted prior. Born, Dexter, Minn., June 2, 1891, of German-American parent. Occupation - farmer. Enlisted in Company H, 1st Infantry, North Dakota National Guard, at Jamestown, on June 4, 1917. Served in Company H, 1st Infantry, North Dakota National Guard (Company H, 164th Infantry), to Jan. 5, 1918; Company M, 26th Infantry, to death. Overseas from Dec. 15, 1917, to death. Engagements: Defensive: Montdidier-Noyon. Offensive: Aisne-Marne. Defensive Sectors: Ansauville (Lorraine); Cantigny (Picardy).
