Not a registrant, enlisted prior. Born, Roann, Ind., Feb. 2, 1886, of American parents. Occupation - student. Enlisted at San Francisco, Calif., on Nov. 25, 1914. Served in Company H, 30th Infantry, to discharge. Grades: Sergeant, July 14, 1916; 1st Sergeant, July 1, 1917; Sergeant, May 24, 1918. Discharged on Sept. 19, 1918, to accept commission. Commissioned 2nd Lieutenant, Sept. 19, 1918. Assigned to Infantry, Unassigned, to death. Overseas from Aug., 1917, to death. Previous military record: Regular Army, from 1905, to 1911.
