Focus Statement

To identify policies and promising practices at the national, state, an institutional levels that can facilitate the translation of military training and experience into college credit/progress toward completing a certificate or degree program and to share this information with the Multi-State Collaborative on Military Credit (MCMC) stakeholders.

Goals

Through this Lumina grant opportunity, the Work Group has identified that it will be able to:

  • Further review and analyze promising policies, procedures, practices and structures in evaluating and awarding college credit; and
  • Share/spread the available information to constituents within the MCMC member states, institutions, and beyond.

Outreach

Outreach activities will consist of five objectives:

  • The MCMC stakeholders coming together via workshops and statewide convening to further learn and share information about promising policies, procedures, practices, and structures;
  • Development of materials/publications such as a toolkit;
  • Presentations at conferences and meetings in order to reach out to broader audiences beyond the MCMC;
  • Continuation of existing collaborative working relationships with ACE, DANTES, College Source, CAEL, and Council of College and Military Educators (CCME); and
  • Development of new relationships with other key organizations, such as American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO), Association of American Colleges and Universities (AAC&U), and others as appropriate.
