2017 Income Tax Forms Now Available Online

Bismarck, N.D. – The 2017 North Dakota income tax booklets and forms are now available online at www.nd.gov/tax/forms.

“North Dakota typically begins tax season when the IRS does,” Rauschenberger said. “However, with the passage of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017, the IRS has delayed releasing the date. Normally, the IRS begins accepting individual income tax returns around mid-January.”

In an effort to modernize systems, cut costs, and work toward being more environmentally responsible, this is the second year the North Dakota Office of State Tax Commissioner will not be printing or mailing any tax booklets or forms.

“In 2017, approximately 85 percent of North Dakotans filed their individual income tax returns electronically,” Rauschenberger stated. “We continue to encourage North Dakota taxpayers to e-file. It is still the fastest and most secure way to file.”

A total of 481,557 individuals filed a North Dakota individual income tax return for tax year 2016. This is down around 27,000 from the 2015 tax year.

Taxpayers may call 701.328.1243 for help accessing income tax booklets and forms online.
