2016 Income Tax Forms Now Available Online

Bismarck, N.D. – The 2016 North Dakota income tax booklets and forms are now available online at www.nd.gov/tax/forms. Tax season will officially begin on Monday, Jan. 23, 2017.

“Although tax season doesn’t start for another month, our staff works to prepare income tax booklets and forms well in advance,” Rauschenberger stated. “Often times software companies and tax professionals will accept tax returns before Jan. 23 and then submit the returns once tax season has begun.”

In an effort to modernize systems, cut costs, and work toward being more environmentally responsible, the Office of State Tax Commissioner will no longer be printing and mailing any tax booklets or forms.

“Nearly 87 percent of North Dakota individual income tax filers now e-file,” Rauschenberger said. “That number has steadily increased since e-file was introduced for tax year 1999.”

Rauschenberger went on to point out that since only 3 percent of taxpayers still received an individual income tax booklet via mail last year, this is a good time to make the change to online-only. A total of 509,000 individuals filed a North Dakota individual income tax return for tax year 2015.

Taxpayers may call 701.328.1243 for help accessing income tax booklets and forms online.
