BISMARCK, N.D. – Tax Commissioner Ryan Rauschenberger, along with State Supervisor of Assessments Linda Leadbetter, announces the brand new look of the North Dakota property tax statements.

Beginning this month, property owners across North Dakota will receive the new statements in their mailboxes. "Years of statement inconsistencies across the state led the Interim Taxation Committee to seek a more uniform statement," said Rauschenberger. "Creating a consistent appearance and basic layout of all North Dakota property tax statements will make it easier for taxpayers to understand."

The Interim Taxation Committee, which is made up of state senators and representatives, directed the Office of State Tax Commissioner to develop a more uniform property tax statement. Lead by the Office of State Tax Commissioner, a working group was formed to examine the various county property tax statements and develop a new format that incorporated the best aspects from each county's statement. The group consisted of county auditors and county auditor/treasurers representing various size counties, as well as members of the North Dakota Association of Counties.

"Individuals in the working group informed counties of their progress and brought additional input to the meetings," said Leadbetter. "We are extremely grateful for their assistance."

Individuals seeking assistance on how to read the new statements may find it in our 'How To' video on the Office of State Tax Commissioner's YouTube channel: www.YouTube.com/NDTaxDepartment.
