BISMARCK, N.D. – The North Dakota Office of State Tax Commissioner will be extending office hours until 9 p.m. CDT on Tuesday, April 14th and Wednesday, April 15th to be more accessible to taxpayers as the tax deadline approaches.

"Taxpayers will have a convenient opportunity to have their last minute tax questions answered and to drop off their taxes," said Tax Commissioner Ryan Rauschenberger.

Taxpayers may stop into the Office of State Tax Commissioner at the North Dakota State Capitol Building on the 16th floor for assistance with and to drop off their individual income taxes. The north door of the building will be open on April 14th and 15th after 5 p.m.

"If taxpayers are unable to file by the April 15th deadline, they will need to file an application for an extension prior to the deadline," said Rauschenberger. "However, we remind individuals who owe taxes that they should make a payment by April 15th to avoid interest."

An application for extension may be filed with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). Extensions that are granted for federal returns are also recognized for North Dakota returns.

Taxpayers may call 701.328.1247 with any additional questions about their state income tax return.
