BISMARCK, N.D. – At a media availability event in West Fargo this afternoon, Tax Commissioner Ryan Rauschenberger encouraged North Dakota taxpayers to utilize free tax preparation sites for their taxes. Both the AARP Foundation Tax-Aide Program and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program maintain sites in North Dakota and western Minnesota.

"There are more than 35 free tax preparation sites now available for North Dakota taxpayers," stated Rauschenberger. "The tax professionals at these sites are trained to help taxpayers with their basic income tax return preparations."

Tax professionals at these sites will assist taxpayers with their North Dakota and federal tax returns for free. Electronic filing will be available and encouraged for qualified individuals.

Tax preparation at these sites is for individuals with low-to-moderate income, individuals with a disability and for elderly individuals – AARP sites especially accommodate those 60 and older. Click here to access the Tax-Aide and VITA site locations.
