Fong: Use "Where's My Refund" To Track State Refund
BISMARCK, N.D. – Tax Commissioner Cory Fong today encouraged taxpayers who have filed a North Dakota individual income tax return and are expecting a state refund to check out the Tax Department online tool, Where's My Refund.
"Taxpayers who are anticipating a North Dakota individual income tax refund can use the "Dude…Where's My Refund" feature on our web site to track the processing of their state refund," said Fong. "This is a secure site that is updated once a day."
By entering a few specific pieces of information, taxpayers who access the state refund tracking system will find out:
- If their return has been received;
- If their return is being processed; and
- The date the state Tax Department issued their refund.
Taxpayers will need to provide their Social Security Number, filing status, and the exact amount of their anticipated refund as shown on their return.
"The Dude…Where's My Refund system is a convenient online tool for taxpayers who are eager to find out about the status of their state individual income tax refund," said Fong. "The system will help them find accurate and current information about their refund from the comfort of their own home."
The refund inquiry system will provide refund status information for current year original returns only. Taxpayers who file an amended return will not be able to use the online inquiry system.
So far, the Tax Department has processed over 276,000 individual income tax returns, and has issued over 174,000 refunds.
To access "Where's My Refund?" or for other tax-related information, visit the Tax Department's web site at www.nd.gov/tax or follow the Tax Department on Facebook or YouTube.
