Fong: ND Property Owners Have Until February 17 to Receive 5 Percent Discount
BISMARCK, N.D. – Commissioner Cory Fong announced today that the deadline this year for North Dakota property owners to receive a 5 percent discount on full payment of their property tax is extended to Tuesday, February 17.
“Because the due date falls on the President’s Day holiday weekend, payments made by Tuesday, February 17, will still qualify for the 5 percent discount for early payment,” said Fong.
In order to qualify for a five percent early payment discount, the due date for North Dakota property tax payment is traditionally February 15. Because February 15 falls on a Sunday and February 16 is a holiday, this year property owners have until February 17 to pay their property tax. Property tax payments made in full by Tuesday, February 17, will qualify for the five percent discount for early payment. Mailed payments are considered timely paid if postmarked February 17.
“Whenever a payment becomes due on a day that the government office to which it is directed is closed, the payment is not due until the next day the office is open,” said Fong.
