TAX DEPARTMENT PROVIDES FILING RELIEF FOR NORTHWOOD TAXPAYERS
BISMARCK, N.D. – North Dakota Tax Commissioner Cory Fong announced today that the North Dakota Tax Department has granted an extension to file the North Dakota tax returns to individuals and businesses affected by the tornado that struck Northwood on Sunday, August 26.
“The tornado damaged many homes and businesses,” said Fong. “The Tax Department is ready to help those residents by offering an extension of time to file and pay North Dakota taxes that would have been due this month.”
Northwood area taxpayers affected by the tornado have until September 20, 2007 to file returns and pay any North Dakota taxes that would have been due on August 31, 2007. No penalty or interest will be charged on any tax due on state tax returns filed and paid by the extended due date.
Fong said the Tax Department will continue to monitor the area and authorize additional extensions as needed. Individuals and businesses may call the Office of State Tax Commissioner at 701.328.3470 with any questions or concerns about filing and paying their North Dakota taxes.
