North Dakota Motor Fuels Tax E-file

If you hold a North Dakota motor fuels tax permit, you may submit a prepared electronic tax report file, prepared using electronic data interchange (EDI) or an Excel spreadsheet, over the Internet using the Motor Fuels Tax E-file. You will also be able to retrieve an "acknowledgment" file indicating the Commissioner has received your tax report and it is in a recognized format. E-file can only be accessed with a valid North Dakota motor fuels tax permit and a North Dakota Login ID (See "Access E-file" below to obtain a North Dakota Login ID and for more information).

E-file is a safe and secure system, for submitting electronic files, which uses Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encryption technology to insure your information is secure and protected. E-file is a free on-line option where you can submit your motor fuels tax report files from the convenience of your personal computer, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Once you have registered for E-file, you will no longer receive paper reports from our office. You will be able to submit your report on-line, up until midnight of the due date to meet the filing deadline. The following options are available for submitting tax payments:
