Is my sales, use tax and gross receipts return filed on time if it is postmarked by the due date? What if the due date falls on a weekend or holiday?

Sales tax returns must be postmarked by the U.S. Postal Service on the due date to be considered filed on time. Check with your local U.S. Postal Service to determine the last mail collection time on the due date. Returns are due the last day of the month following the tax reporting period. If the last day of the month falls on a weekend or legal holiday, the due date is the next business day.
