Free File is a joint venture between the government and certain tax software companies (listed below). The companies listed below offer free e-filing of your federal tax return and your state return, if you meet certain criteria.

If you have any questions or problems with an electronic service provider's website, including error messages received while attempting to use their services, you must contact that service provider's customer service for help.

To find out which method, Free File, IRS E-File, or WebFile, to use, use this simple interactive tool. By answering a few easy questions, you will learn which method will work best for you.
