Early Case Evaluation : Q & A : Mediation : Mini-Hearing : Mediated Settlement Conference EARLY CASE EVALUATION Early case evaluation by a third-party neutral is similar to a mini-trial or mini-hearing except the presentations are directed only toward a third-party neutral. The third-party neutral is experienced in the area of law involved in the case. Clients are required to be present. After the presentations, the third-party neutral identifies area of agreement for possible stipulations, assesses the strengths and weaknesses of the cases, and gives an opinion as to the likely outcome. At some point in the process, the third-party neutral may become a mediator for settlement discussions.
