Skilled Nursing Care Unit
The Skilled Care Unit (Nursing Home Care) is the unit in which the Resident requires ongoing nursing supervision and/or assistance in one or all areas of physical needs and activities of daily living. Care in this area ranges from total assistance in all care needs to supervision of one or two care needs, depending upon the resident's capabilities. Medical care is available on a regular and frequent, but not continuous, basis. The North Dakota Veterans Home Skilled Unit (Nursing Home Care) is a licensed Medicare/Medicaid provider.
Nursing Services:
- 24 Hour Nursing Care is provided
- Residents enjoy a weekly assisted whirlpool
- CNA staff assist residents with activities of daily living according to resident's needs
- Staff members encourage as much independence as possible
- A supervised smoking group is available
**At this time our facility does not provide services to individuals who require a secured environment.
Room Description:
- 4 Bedroom Suites (2 beds per room with a shared restroom)
- 2 beds per room
- private rooms
Restorative Therapy:

Exercise Room and Restorative Therapy Staff
- Therapy offered under consultation of a physical therapist
- Physical Therapist visits with residents individually to set up a therapy program specific to each resident's needs
- Residents are encouraged to maintain or increase their level of activity as a health benefit
Dietary:

Skilled Area Dining Room and Dietary Personnel
- 3 meals are provided 7 days per week
- Snacks available when desired
- Meals served to the unit on hot serving cart
- Dietician meets with resident/family member to set up meal plan according to resident tastes and physician ordered diet
Activities:

Matt and Brenda of the Activities Area
Laundry:
- Clothes are laundered 3 times per week
- Clean linen and towels are provided regularly
Houskeeping:

Marty and Stacy of Housekeeping
- Housekeeping services provided 7 days per week on a routine basis
- Staff available to assist with specific concerns
Maintenance:
- Maintenance staff available to maintain facility and grounds
- Available on-call when needs arise
Social Services:
Social Services Staff are committed to insuring that you and your family are treated with dignity, respect, and have the optimum quality of life. We will assist you and your family with getting acquainted with the unit, staff, and facility.
Specialized Services:

The "Little BUB" and the Chapel
- Transportation: Transportation to and from local health care providers and also to the Veterans Administration Medical and Regional Office Center in Fargo
- Mail Delivery: Mail is delivered to each resident's room
- Barber/Hairdresser: Barber and Hairdressing services are offered on a weekly basis
- Pastoral Services: Pastoral Services are offered to meet residents spiritual needs
- Hospice Care: Hospice Services are available
- Family/Resident Council: Family and Resident Council meetings are held to ensure that family and resident concerns are addressed
- Volunteer Ombudsmen Program: The NDVH ombudsmen may assist residents with any complaints, concerns or resident rights issues. He may also refer residents to the Region ombudsmen
