The North Dakota Veterans Home welcomes organizations or individuals that wish to donate. This funding is used for the benefit of our residents and making improvements/repairs to our facility and its grounds. Following is a brief explanation of the donation accounts that are available and what they are used for. Please make checks payable to the North Dakota Veterans Home.

Activities

The Activities Fund is used to keep our residents socially active. The Activities Department uses funding for field trips, diners club, birthday club, bingo, etc. This funding gives our residents the opportunity to stay active, have fun and interact socially with others.

Building: New Veterans Home

The construction of the new veterans’ home is underway. This new facility is being built using the VA initiative of a household/neighborhood design, which focuses on having 12-14 resident rooms in each household. We anticipate moving into the new facility in the spring of 2011. Contractors for the project include Comstock Construction and Nordick Electric both from Wahpeton, ND and Grant’s Mechanical from Fargo, ND. Visit the North Dakota Veterans Home website at www.nd.gov/ndvh to view the plans for our new veterans’ home.

Any funds donated to the new veterans’ home will be used to purchase new items for the home. Some items needed include patio furniture, wheelchair swings, benches, exercise and therapy equipment, china hutches, tables and chairs and dishes for the family dining areas.

Decorating

This fund is used for decorating resident rooms and special resident areas throughout the facility.

Equipment

This fund is used to purchase equipment for the residents. Items purchased from this fund in the past include exercise equipment, televisions and equipment for the resident’s wood shop.

Grounds

The North Dakota Veterans Home uses this fund for making new additions and renovations to the park and grounds of the facility. Some things we would like to do in the future is to build a patio that is handicap accessible, an enclosed courtyard and horseshoe pits for the residents' to enjoy.

We take pride in the appearance and upkeep of the Veterans Home and appreciate your efforts in helping to beautify our grounds. With our new building we will be developing several courtyard areas for the residents, staff and visitors to enjoy. These improvements could not be done without the efforts of individuals like yourself who are willing to donate to these projects.

This fund is used for the purchase of Christmas gifts for the residents. Funding is also used to serve special meals during the holiday season and for holiday parties.

Resident Loan Fund

The Resident Loan Fund is used for short term loans to our residents. Residents are required to make monthly payments to repay the loan.

Social Services

The Social Services Fund is used to purchase for individuals who would otherwise not be able to afford them. The money is used only for basic needs items such as clothing and shoes.

Special Events Fund
