Provider Training
To assist in fulfilling this requirement, NDPERS staff will conduct training sessions two times per year. One round of training sessions will be conducted in the spring of each year and another round will be conducted in the fall. In addition to satisfying contractual requirements, participants may receive continuing education credits, depending on the course offered.
NDPERS will be offering two rounds of Deferred Compensation Provider Training Sessions in 2010. The dates are May 11th and 12th for provider representatives in their first year working with the NDPERS 457 program and May 4th and 5th for provider representatives who have previously attended a NDPERS training session, but not one this year. Dates in the fall are September 21st and 22nd for first year provider representatives who have not attended a previous training and September 28th and 29th for provider representatives who have attended previous sessions but not one this year. In addition to satisfying the contractual requirement, it is beneficial for you to participate in a training session for at least two more reasons. First, it allows you to stay abreast of administrative changes in the program and second, we continue to anticipate expanding interest and participation in the NDPERS deferred compensation program as members grow to understand the benefits of supplemental retirement planning and advantages of participation in the Portability Enhancement Provision (PEP). It is to your benefit to be up to date on the procedures and regulations of the NDPERS deferred compensation program and to understand the PEP program thoroughly.
