Recent changes to North Dakota law:

The following changes in North Dakota law regarding insurance producer licenses go into effect Jan. 1, 2010.

  • Every licensed insurance producer must file a biennial license renewal application and pay a $25 fee regardless of the lines of authority or exemptions from continuing education requirements.
  • License renewal applications will be due biennially by the last day of the insurance producer's birth month. Continuing education requirements must be completed before the renewal application will be processed.
  • The Rule of 85 continuing education exemption will only be available to those producers who meet the qualifications by Jan. 1, 2010. Every licensed insurance producer must still file a biennial renewal and pay the $25 fee regardless of whether or not they have a Rule of 85 exemption for continuing education requirements.

  • Also effective July 1, 2009, surplus lines and consultant initial license fees and renewal fees will change. Click here to view the fee schedule.
