Name changes
Name changes must be submitted in writing within 30 days of the change.
Use form SFN 50072 Change of Address and/or Name.
Individuals submitting a name change must attach a copy of the legal document such as a court order or marriage certificate.
Business entities must first amend the name with the North Dakota Secretary of State. Contact the Secretary of State:

There is no fee for processing a name change. A new license will be mailed when the change has been processed by the Department.
