Current annual statement information that companies file with state regulators and with the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) can now be accessed online. Complaint information on each company is also available. Go to the NAIC's Consumer Information Source website.
Basic financial and complaint information is available on the CIS web site at no cost and detailed annual statement pages are available for download for a nominal cost. Adobe Acrobat Reader is needed to view the annual statements. If you have difficulty, please contact the Department or the National Association of Insurance Commissioners at the NAIC Help Desk.
To search for the financial and complaint information on the CIS web site, enter the company name and the state in which the company is doing business. If possible, check your policy for the company's correct name because coverage may be issued by a subsidiary with a different name. When entering the company name, use only those words unique to that name - State Farm for example, not State Farm Fire & Casualty Company. The lookup function does not work when using the company's full name because the NAIC uses abbreviations for more common words such as INS for insurance and CO for company.
Please note that under North Dakota public records requirements, we are able to provide an electronic financial statement that is viewable in the Insurance Department's office. For more information regarding access, please contact:
