Nearly 100 volunteers help keep the North Dakota Insurance Department running smoothly every day. Eighty of those volunteers are involved with the State Health Insurance Counseling Program and are located across the state. Others help with office work at our two locations in Bismarck.

We are looking for volunteers who:
- Enjoy helping others
- Are dependable, understanding, patient and compassionate
- Have good communication skills
- Can protect client confidentiality
- Have no conflict of interest
- Are comfortable using a computer and the internet
- Want to provide State Health Insurance Counseling (SHIC) services
