Hamm serves cease and desist order against Bismarck insurance agent Posted on 12/8/2011
BISMARCK, N.D.-North Dakota Insurance Commissioner Adam Hamm today served a cease and desist order against Ryan G. Eckroth, a Bismarck insurance agent who is alleged to have submitted fraudulent insurance applications. The order bars Eckroth from engaging in the business of insurance.
The cease and desist order alleges that Eckroth obtained money from the agency at which he worked by submitting fraudulent insurance applications. Through an audit conducted by the agency, it was discovered that Eckroth had allegedly been overpaid in excess of $88,000 for policies that had never been put in force or that had been canceled shortly after being put in force.
"The Insurance Department is focused on moving quickly on these kinds of cases, and this cease and desist order is an important step in protecting North Dakota's insurance consumers," Hamm said. "If you've done business with Mr. Eckroth and have concerns about your policy, please contact the Insurance Department at 1-800-247-0560 or the insurance company immediately."
Eckroth has a right to request an administrative hearing on the cease and desist order within 30 days of issuance.
