Hamm issues cease and desist against Fargo insurance agent Posted on 9/9/2010
BISMARCK, N.D.-North Dakota Insurance Commissioner Adam Hamm served a cease and desist order today upon Janet Lulay, a Fargo insurance agent who is alleged to have engaged in dishonest practices involving an insurance client. The order bars Lulay from engaging in the business of insurance until further notice.
Lulay is alleged to have accepted a check from an insurance client to pay premiums on a homeowner's policy and then deposited it into her own personal bank account.
"The Department moves quickly on these kinds of cases to prevent consumers from further harm," Hamm said. "This order stops Ms. Lulay from working with North Dakota's insurance consumers."
Lulay has a right to request an administrative hearing on the cease and desist order within 30 days of service.
Consumers with questions about their insurance policies through Lulay are encouraged to call the North Dakota Insurance Department at 1-800-247-0560.
