Insurance Department starting a CHAT about health insurance Posted on 7/15/2009
BISMARCK, N.D.-The North Dakota Insurance Department is commencing a unique health insurance study this summer called CHAT, which stands for Choosing Health Plans All Together. CHAT brings small groups of consumers together to make health insurance decisions and learn from each other. The study is the first of its kind in the state.
"The purpose of the study is twofold," Commissioner Adam Hamm said. "We want to help North Dakotans better understand health insurance and we want to learn directly from consumers what they want and need from their health insurance."
Some participants will do the internet-based exercise on their own. Others will do the exercise in a group setting with a facilitator at 13 different locations around the state: Bismarck, Bottineau, Bowman, Devils Lake, Dickinson, Fargo, Grand Forks, Harvey, Jamestown, LaMoure, Minot, Wahpeton and Williston.
"Gathering input from the citizens of North Dakota is especially important during this time of intense national debate on health care," Hamm said.
The Department is specifically seeking participants that fall into the following categories: • Students • Single working people • Employers/business owners • Parents • Unemployed people • Uninsured people
